A dream came true.

As I am an avid wearing and creator of quirky and unusual jewellery i've usually seen everything and takes a lot more to get me excited about new pieces nowadays (plus what kind of jewellery don't I have!). Well this change the day I saw a pair of earrings listed on folksy from Steam Punk Glass and that night I actually had a dream about wearing these earrings with a matching beaded necklace too. Well the next day I went back to the site and they'd be sold, but Glenn was more than happy to whip me up another pair and here they are, my very own world studs.

I just love them and my dream literally came true :)

Simply She Draws.

Some of you may have already notice a change in my blog layout and also my twitter name, so now is time to reveal that I am not longer selling under the name of Glue and Glitter, but now, simple, She Draws.I also haven't blogged for a loooong time, but I have been preparing new stock ready for my name and shop change over. Maybe I shall give you a bit of a update to why I have gone ahead and changed my name...

When I first started making some things to sell, I had no idea that I would head in a direction and I also had no idea to the vast amount of handmade designers and artists out there. I started creating things from recycled bits of jewellery and buttons I already owned but soon after I was inspired by all you designers and wanted to put the designer in me to the test. I started to experiment with lots of things and how I could use my illustrations to wear as jewellery. I discovered plastic and resin and started making. Some of my designs became popular with you guys and you always gave me confidents in my drawings. Naturally not everyone wanted jewellery which lead me to make yet more different things such as tote bags, tea towels and cards, these were still just trials. I felt like although I was making progress as a designer I was still selling under the name which wasn't what intended for my new ideas and this brought me to think of a new name which had a clear focus in what I wanted to make. And so here we have the new shop She Draws.

Finding a name to suit is damn hard. I did lots of research on everyone else's and you all have such good names which made it even harder. After lots of thought and procrastinating I finally came to the decision (with the help of the BF) to settle for She Draws. She Draws is simply what I do :).

I hope you like my new name and please go and have a look at my new shop or visit my temporary website www.shedraws.co.uk which is currently being built into a fabulous emporium by my good friend Katie.

Here are just a few of my new designs and products. Enjoy!

*Sold* Junk jewels

I have all this junk jewellery up for sale if anyone would like it. There are all sorts of things from broken bits and pieces, unfinished pieces, beaded necklaces or simply the odd earrings (including one or two gold) and loose findings. It all weights around 2kg so there is a whole load of stuff. I'll never get around to making anything from these anymore so they'd be better off going to a junk jeweller. They'd be great fun to rummage around in.

There are lots more pictured than those shown, but I couldn't get around to photographing it all and i've put some into little bags. If anyone is interested I would be asking £22 including P&P which will be a fair bit due to the weight. I used to sell 1.5kg of junk jewellery on ebay for over £30 so this is a bargain.

Let me know if you are interested, have any questions or simply pass on the details to anyone you know who might like all these goodies.

You can email me at Laura_figiel(at)hotmail(dot)com.

Thanks!

Nicola wont be homesick.

Here is my finished custom item for Nicola. I am soo happy with it, it's definitely better than my first one I made ( practice really does make perfect). I hope she likes it too.

It hangs so well and I just love the way the scrabble tile just finishes it off.

If you could like a custom item like this, just contact me with some items you'd like illustrated.

What's in your living room?

These are some charms I have created to make myself a necklace. Not too sure what inspired me, perhaps just they are all things you wouldn't usually get on a necklace. I illustrated things you find around the home, generally in the lounge (perhaps I will make a kitchen one too!). Some items are from what is in my actually living room, like the chair, pile of books, scissors and banana (always bananas in the fruit bowl) and the other things like the shade, key and pencil are things I assumed you would find in a living room.

I'll show you the final piece soon, when I've hung it all together!

Also just wondering if anyone would like to swap for this jewellery tree. I forgot I had it, and found it the other day. I think it is sweet and would look dandy with earrings on it at a craft fair. I don't think it goes with my "branding" but I'm sure there are some nice organic looking items out there ready to be worn on it. It's about 7 inches tall. Just leave me a comment if you're interested. Thanks!

My kind of jewels

Tuesday is usually the day I have "show me your shoes" but unfortunately noone volunteered for this week so it'll have to be a different post. I do hope that someone will send me some shoes as I'd really like to keep doing that feature. The email is Laura@glueandglitter.co.uk so please get in touch with some lovely shoes!

Ok so for todays post I decided I would show the some of my favourite pieces of jewellery. I thought this was quite interesting as I create jewellery myself and I am always intrigued to know what other people's style of jewellery is.

I do love jewellery and have a wide taste, I especially love unusual jewellery created from all different mediums and I have a real weakness for semi precious stones.

This is just a small collections of my fav pieces. Whilst going through them I came across so many items I do really love, each in their own way and most have their very own stories. I realized my boyfriend has bought me some fabulous jewellery too, how sweet of him!

(Left to right:) 1.My own telephone necklace, 2. my own umbrella necklace, 3. Art deco style lalique glass pendant, 4.Vintage dress by Paraphernalia, 5. Lalique glass heart from my 18th birthday.

1. Turquoise necklace from Greece, 2. Swatch apple ring from Amsterdam, 3. Marc jacobs Daisy solid perfume ring, 4. Moss Agate ring (looks like a big lump), 5. (another lump but red) Plastic red ring, 6. Vintage silver and enamel artist palette brooch, 7. Nefetiti pendant (apparently it was a gift from Egypt to my great aunt from her first love in the 50's, but when they split she gave it my nan and then she gave it me!) 8. Swarovski Lemon studs from my boyfriend, 9. Silver mussel pendant from my boyfriend, 10. Fine bone china pansy studs.

*You may need to enlarge the pic to see these in all their glory as some of them look like blobs!

I hope my jewellery gives you a better insight to the person I am and I'd love to see everyone elses jewellery too (just to be nosy), so please feel free to steal this post.

Kick in the bum.

I decided I really need to kick my small business into shape and to get some sales I need to make some things. Sometimes I get shy about making new things, about spending the money before hand and just lack a bit of confidence. It doesn't really help when people don't see this is a chance to make money but I do (or i think anyway). I've noticed a small increase in my sales and so my items must be saleable. Making new things will obviously get more buying eyes to my shop and so this is my plan.

Today I have finished a number of new pendant, earrings and buttons. I have listed a few already and there are still many buttons that haven't been finish
ed yet, but you can have the first peek at the completed collection.

Let me know your thoughts!

Thankyou.

Owl swap

As my swap partner has received my items I think it's safe to put the pics up now.
I made an owl sitting on a branch, with a moon and a star. Made with plastic, covered with different papers and the sealed and glossed with resin and finally hung on a silver plated chain.

I hope you enjoy looking at it and I will post the pics of my received item soon.
